Castelli d'Italia #123

La rocca aldobrandesca di Talamone si trova nel comune di Orbetello, nei monti dell'Uccellina. Fu costruita verso la metà del '200, dagli Aldobrandeschi, per controllare la zona e il porto sottostante. Il secolo successivo i senesi - in cambio di diritti sull'utilizzo del porto di Talamone - svolsero dei lavori di ampliamento della struttura, che durarono fino alla seconda metà del '400.
Nel '500 subì diversi danni a causa dei pirati, ma fu salvata e ristrutturata verso la fine dello stesso secolo, e in seguito fu il punto di raccolta per la Spedizione dei Mille imbarcati a Talamone.
La rocca fu danneggiata durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, e restaurata.
